Thanks for looking up all of that information, Kyle. I think what is most interesting for me is that McKee's salary no longer appears huge. He is no bargain but that 4m is manageable. I remember thinking when they signed him that it seemed like a desperate move at a ridiculous price. Now he is merely a pricey, good defenseman who is average on the Blues.
I agree that the Blues need to move one or two defensemen at some point but I don't think that time is now. At a minimum wait until the trade deadline. It appears that everyone around the NHL is starting to recognize how good the D is and I bet there are already some good offers that could become asinine in a few months. JD got Boyes for Wideman! Imagine what he could get for Brewer. At least a first round draft pick and a great young forward. I'll bet more even. You know eastern conference teams like Philly and Boston would love to bring Brewer or Jackman in for the playoffs.
The worst part about this is that the logical choice for a trade is Jackman. He could bring a huge return from an eastern conference team. He could also be replaced more easily than the rest because Polak plays a similar style. I say this is bad news because I like Jackman a lot. He is one bad mother*. He also was drafted by the Blues, came up through the system, won the Calder, and has done everything you could ask of him and more. It just doesn't seem right to move him. I would like him to be captain soon.
I say move McKee or Brewer at the deadline. But if it is Brewer you better get a bounty. I am talking multiple first round picks and a couple good young forwards.
Anyway, it's too bad you couldn't watch the game tonight. The note was really flying like I haven't seen in years. It was great to watch. Does Google still show complete games?
